Preston Bus Garage and Youth Centre receives planning permission.

EngineersHRW are delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted for the construction of a new youth centre designed by John Puttick Associates in the heart of Preston adjacent the grade II listed bus station.

The project also involves the refurbishment of the notable brutalist bus station which was built by Ove Arup and Partners in 1969 and the creation of a new public square connecting the two buildings.

John Puttick Associates and EngineersHRW have been part of the design team since winning the RIBA sponsored competition in August 2015. The winning the design was selected over 125 entries from around the world and was favoured by both the judging panel and a public vote.

Work is expected to begin on site in September 2017, with completion scheduled for late 2018.
