The project consists of a new steel footbridge across the existing library at the gallery level, a new steel staircase in the Members Room area, and the part removalĀ of an existing floor within the Grade II* listed Burlington House. The design of the bridge is kept minimal by the use of the hangers and a horizontal vierendeel truss which provides its lateral stability. The new staircase is a cantilever stair with a single steel stringer on the wall side only.
