Sugar House Island

The first phase of development of this 20-acre site in Stratford focused on the north-east quarter which comprises commercial, community and school buildings. The buildings are a mix of new build and refurbishment and range between 2 and 6 storeys. The design of various residential blocks were progressed concurrently. The first elements of the masterplan to be constructed included the client’s offices, a restaurant and landmark tower structure, while the Cooperage Yard and Dane's Yard complexes were completed in 2021.

Innovative structural solutions for the commercial buildings included cross-laminated timber (CLT), a CLT and glulam timber structure, and a hybrid steel frame.
