Victoria Island, Lagos

Working with an international team of clients and consultants engineersHRW provided full civil and structural engineering design services from concept to detailed tender, before handing over to a local team. The project involved 137,000 sqm of development and includes three residential towers up to 24 storeys, a hotel and clubhouse, leisure facilities, 850 car parking spaces and a waste-to-energy plant. 

A reinforced concrete solution was adopted to suit local skills and technology, with the height of the towers restricted by the piles' capacity to carry the building loads in deposits of saturated sand at the beachfront location. A two-storey basement was designed, with another three storeys of sub-podium space permitting elevated views for the bars and restaurants, hotel and lower apartments across the beach and out to sea.
