  • Adam Redgrove — Director

    Adam takes pride in collaborating with project teams, to develop efficient, sustainable and elegant engineering solutions. His approach and dedication to the success of projects is such that he has established numerous long-standing associations with Clients and Architects.

    Adam currently runs one of our teams in the London Office. He has in-depth experience of a wide range of sectors and including notable projects such as The Flint House, East Ham Civic Centre and the Natural History Museum. Adam particularly enjoys opportunities to extend the life of existing structures and housing projects that serve the needs of local communities. He has been appointed as Technical Advisor to a number of local authorities for their housing developments and is a member of the Conservation and Design Review Panel for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

    Away from the office you will generally find Adam out in all weathers, coaching junior football teams.

  • Angela Ung — Senior Engineer

    Angela graduated in Structural Engineering and Architecture from University of Sheffield, obtaining a MEng and RIBA Part I in 2016. She joined engineersHRW in 2021 with experience of working on residential refurbishments, commercial and mixed-use projects. Angela enjoys working collaboratively with the design team to produce elegant and efficient designs. From concept designs to construction details through hand-drawn sketches and a thorough understanding of all aspects of building design. Angela received her IStructE Chartership in 2023.

    Outside the office, Angela practices yoga to discover the inner self and stillness.

  • Brett Scott — Technical Director

    Brett graduated from the University of Sydney in 1984. He worked with Brown Verge Harris and Sutherland in Sydney before moving to London in 1987. Working for Harris and Sutherland in London he worked on a range of commercial, educational and historic structures. Brett has since worked with Whitbybird and WSP.

    Brett has extensive experience in refurbishment projects, having worked on Shepherd Market and Athlone House. He has also experience in larger commercial and infrastructure projects. Brett is interested in challenging smaller scale projects and the added value approach to engineering which a well-considered structure can benefit from. Brett enjoys sailing and hill walking.

  • Chris Stobbart — Associate Director

    After graduating in Structural Engineering and Architecture (MEng) from University of Sheffield in 2007, Chris first worked for an architectural practice in Cambridge on several higher education campus projects, before joining Jane Wernick Associates. In 2015 Jane Wernick Associates merged with engineersHRW.

    As a Chartered Structural Engineer with over 15 years’ experience and an Associate Director in the London office, Chris enjoys working collaboratively with the design team and with specialist subcontractors to find innovative, efficient structural solutions. His varied experience includes Stirling Prize nominated The Weston at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, demountable temporary timber pavilion The Colour Palace, renovation and extension of a Scheduled Ancient Monument at Hay Castle and the detailed design and dynamic footfall analysis of a 90m footbridge in Ghent, Belgium.

    Throughout his career, Chris has worked in teaching and technical tutor roles for several architectural schools including Central Saint Martins, University of East London, Ravensbourne and University of Greenwich.

  • Craig Kibukamusoke — Senior Engineer

    After graduating Cardiff University in 2012, Craig joined Structured Environment in London as a Graduate Engineer. During his time there, he progressed to Senior Structural Engineer and working across their three offices (London, Tokyo, Copenhagen), whilst also going on a secondment in Panama to design stations for the Line 3 Metro Line.

    Craig’s design experience ranges from bespoke residential to temporary exhibitions, transport stations to hospitality often being involved in architecturally challenging projects, taking the projects on from initial conceptual design through to construction.

    In April 2022, Craig joined engineersHRW, London as a Senior Structural Engineer working on the stadium upgrade at Fratton Park, Portsmouth FC, private residential and multi-unit projects.

  • Derek Porter — Associate Revit Technician

    Following his experience working at Cameron Taylor Bedford/Scott Wilson, Derek joined engineersHRW as a CAD Technician in 2011 and was promoted to CAD Manager in 2016. Now with over 15 years' experience, Derek has overseen our transition to working in Revit on all projects by 2015. Derek takes pride in creating efficient structural models with a fast turnaround of information, producing clear drawings with sufficient detail to provide a comprehensive package of information. His role as Associate Revit Technician requires Derek to be responsible for the quality control of structural models across the office. He has a keen interest in working with existing structures in particular demolition and phasing of works, basement underpinning / excavations and staircases.

    Derek has produced complex Revit models for many projects including La Definition in Lagos, Hay Castle, The Colour Palace and The Concrete House as featured on Grand Designs. Derek is a keen follower of sports, especially Formula 1, and enjoys taking days out with his young family.

  • Greg Nordberg — Project Engineer

    Greg studied Architecture at the Bartlett before undertaking a Masters in Civil Engineering at University College London, graduating in 2013. He started working for Jane Wernick Associates and joined engineersHRW when the two companies merged in 2015.

    Greg has a particular interest in design education having taught architecture at a number of leading institutions (including UCL, Central St Martins and Oxford Brookes) as well as practical courses with STORE Projects. This practical and architectural experience informs his approach and there is often a focus on visible structure and detailing in his projects. These include: The Weston at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Ibstock Place School Refectory, Preston Bus Station Refurbishment, The Colour Palace, Secular Retreat. Greg won the 2009 Noilly Prat Prix de la Sculpture and continues to enjoy art and making.

  • Jane Wernick — Consultant

    Jane is an Engineer who likes to work on projects that give delight. At Arup since 1973, she ran their Los Angeles office from 1986-88. Her most notable Arup project was the Millennium Wheel. In 1998 she founded Jane Wernick Associates (JWA). Projects include the Young Vic Theatre, the treetop walkway at Kew Gardens and the Living Architecture Houses. In 2015 JWA was incorporated into engineersHRW, where she is now a Consultant.

    Jane has taught at many architecture and engineering schools. She won the 2013 CBI First Woman of the Built Environment Award. She is a member of various Design Review Panels, and think tanks including the Edge, and edited the RIBA Building Futures book, ‘Building Happiness – Architecture to Make You Smile’.

    Jane can be heard discussing her work in recent talks for Queens of Structure and the Oskar Von Millar Forum. An archive of Jane's selected interviews and talks can be found here.

  • Jaye Scott-Henry — Revit Technician

    After graduating from Cambridge University in 1986, Kate worked for Arup in London and then for RFR in Paris. She joined Jane Wernick Associates in 2001, becoming an Associate Director in 2013, and then an Associate at engineersHRW when the two companies merged in 2015. Since 2017 she has worked as an external Consultant to engineersHRW, based in Devon.

    Her design experience ranges from conventional buildings to footbridges, architectural steelwork and sculptures – placing high value on close collaboration between structural engineers and architects throughout the design process, so as to optimise the integration of structural economy and integrity with architecture. Notable projects include the Treetop Walkway at Kew Gardens, the Secular Retreat in Devon, Preston Bus station and more recently the new dining hall building at Ibstock Place school.

    Kate is a STEM ambassador to schools, and has tutored undergraduate architecture students at various universities. As a French-speaker, she has also worked as a technical and architectural translator.

  • Krzysztof Balcerowicz — Senior Engineer

    Krzysztof graduated with distinction from the University of Technology in Bydgoszcz (Poland) in Structural Engineering in 2003. After graduation he worked for a local firm on a range of commercial and industrial projects. In 2005 he moved to London and joined engineersHRW as a Graduate Engineer. 

    At engineersHRW Krzysztof has worked on a variety of projects, developing designs from initial concepts through to final detailed construction packages. He enjoys working with diverse teams of architects and collaborators where he can contribute ideas and skills to develop innovative structural solutions to match the architectural vision. He has very strong education experience having been the principal engineer on Notre Dame School, Sacred Heart School, Brentwood School and Krishna Avanti School. He is particularly interested in timber and leads engineersHRW’s technical research into the use of timber in construction, both natural timber and engineered timber products such as CLT, LVL and glue-laminated timber.

    Krzysztof is an ultramarathon runner and a keen cyclist, enjoys outdoor sports and mountain hiking with his young family.

  • Lucy Jenkins — Project Engineer

    Lucy graduated with a master’s degree in Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering from Newnham College, Cambridge in 2019 and joined engineersHRW as a Graduate Engineer the same year. She has since been involved in a range of projects across the company’s portfolio, from small residential to large educational and commercial, including the redevelopment of the kitchen and dining facilities at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge and ongoing modifications to Fratton Park football stadium.

    Lucy is committed to reducing the environmental impact of projects, and through her role with the engineersHRW Sustainability Taskforce is responsible for sharing and implementing industry best-practice with the wider company. At weekends, Lucy enjoys swapping the fresh air and mud of site visits for the fresh air and mud of countryside walks.

  • Mark Kight — Director

    Mark studied Civil and Structural engineering at UMIST, Manchester before returning to Oxford to work for AKS Ward. Mark joined engineersHRW in 2015 as a Senior Engineer and was promoted to Director in 2024 with the responsibility to develop the company’s Oxford office. Mark strongly believes in well-timed input where successful projects are born out of strong collaboration and an early anticipation of detail. As part of the climate emergency, most recent projects have successfully adopted the use of engineered timber products, this supported by a strong background experience in hybrid steel and precast concrete in both functional and visually exposed settings.

    Mark is the Sustainability Champion of engineersHRW and enthusiastic and open-minded about developing strategies to lower the embodied carbon of projects throughout the company. In this role Mark initiates discussions with an in-house Sustainability Task Force to keep abreast of material innovations and conversation with industry to explore what is possible. Informed designs are aspired to with a view to being both buildable and beautiful, represented by projects including the Dorothy Wadham Building and Moore Park Mews, both RIBA National Award winners. Mark is football mad and happy to strum most classic hits from ‘the boss’.

  • Martin Waters — Director

    Martin, a founding director of engineersHRW, brings a thoughtful and creative approach to the projects he works on consistently delivering sustainable, elegant, and cost-effective engineering solutions. A graduate of the University of Leeds in 1994 (including a year at Penn State University), Martin also studied Architecture at the Universities of Nottingham and East London. He became a Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers in 1998.

    Martin shares his time between the London and Oxford offices and in Oxford heads a busy team of engineers delivering low-carbon new-build and refurbishment projects involving historic buildings in and around Oxford. He is particularly interested in the incorporation of structurally expressive geometries in buildings which can be seen on the projects such as Brentwood School, Streatham and Clapham School and Herts House.

    Martin has been involved as technical tutor at a number of Architecture Schools including the RCA, Oxford Brookes and Kingston University. He also sits on a number of Design Review Panels.

  • Pasindu Perera — Engineer
  • Robert Sanders — Senior Revit Technician

    Rob studied for a Bachelor of Environmental Design at the University of Tasmania in Launceston before joining a small structural engineering firm in Tasmania. Working for a year he then left to travel around India and Asia before coming to the UK. Rob was introduced to Revit in 2006 whilst working at Halcrow Yolles. Building on this  experience in his future roles at Arup and Atkins, Rob took responsibility for BIM coordination and played a pivotal guidance role using AECOsim software on several large infrastructure projects. He joined engineersHRW in 2018 as a Senior Revit Technician.

    Rob has a keen enthusiasm for visual modelling, having used Dynamo and Grasshopper since 2014 and has been fortunate enough to model complex structures for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Dubai Opera House and Riyadh Metro. Currently a member of engineersHRW’s Embodied Carbon Task Force, Rob enjoys dealing with data almost as much as exquisite 3D modelling. He also enjoys motorcycling, photography and cooking.

  • Simon Robinson — Director

    Simon Robinson graduated from the University of Manchester in 1986. He worked with Kirk McClure and Morton in Belfast before moving to London to work, first with Alan Baxter and Associates and then joining JSA Consulting Engineers becoming an Associate there in 1998, being the design lead on a number of large residential riverside developments. Simon is a founding director of EngineersHRW.

    Simon’s project experience is diverse, he has an extensive knowledge of working with both public and private clients, delivering buildings of all types and scales.

  • Stephen Haskins — Director

    Stephen studied Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Bath and attained IStructE Chartered status in 1992. Stephen is one of the co-founding Directors of engineersHRW, established in 2001 following 2 years working as a freelance engineer and 12 years working in leading London-based consultancies including Alan Baxter Associates and Dewhurst Macfarlane and Partners.

    Stephen is a strong advocate of early collaboration in the design process where an engineer’s knowledge can bring real value to cost, delivery and carbon reduction. In addition to his role as Director, Stephen currently runs a technical team in the London Office. He is particularly interested in refurbishment, retro-fit and historic structures where his 35 years’ experience in this field can be applied.

    Stephen was directly responsible for the design and development of the Savill Gardens timber gridshell project, Dulwich Picture Gallery, Hay Castle and Victoria Island, Lagos. In 2008 he was awarded the IStructE Oscar Faber Award for co-authoring the paper “The Savill Building – Expert Engineering Collaboration”. Stephen could be considered a keen cyclist although it is weather dependent, which is why his cycle trips are often in Africa.

  • Vasile Buda — Senior Engineer

    Vasile studied structural engineering at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where he also completed a Masters in Structural Refurbishment. Moving to the UK in 2012, he joined engineersHRW in 2013 as a Graduate Engineer, following a year working as Site Engineer for a Contractor. He speaks fluent English and Romanian and some Spanish.

    Vasile is a Chartered Structural Engineer with wide-ranging experience including refurbishment projects with new basements, listed buildings, new build projects in reinforced concrete, steel and CLT. Key projects include The Concrete House, which featured on Grand Designs, community housing scheme Marklake Court and Ibstock Place School, which received a Structural Timber Award in 2021.
