Oakhurst Gardens, West Sussex
A series of new buildings on the existing Oakhurst Gardens site, which provides sheltered housing and community facilities within spacious gardens. The new buildings include three new residential dwellings, a community hall and laundry. The hall building also provides office accommodation for the not for profit Littlehampton and Rustington Housing Society.
The new hall was constructed as an engineered timber frame with CLT construction to the offices and an expressed glulam frame supporting the CLT roof of the open-plan hall. The laundry was similarly formed in timber construction, with exposed glulam framing. The residential accommodation was formed in more traditional construction with timber roofs and floors supported on loadbearing masonry walls.
